Female homicide suspect arrested- Family of victim demands answers

PRINCE GEORGE — A Prince George woman has been arrested in connection to a homicide that occurred in Prince George in July 2020.

Prince George RCMP says 56-year-old Charlene Jane Alexander has been arrested for the murder of Jessie Mae Hayward-Lines. The BC Prosecution Service approved one count of First Degree Murder. Alexander will remain in custody until her next court appearance.

“This file has remained a priority for our investigators, who have worked tirelessly to get the investigation to this point,” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Jessie Mae Hayward-Lines, who have endured immense grief this past year.”

Hayward-Lines, 26, died of a stab wound the evening of July 2, 2020, in front of the Prince George Courthouse
