99 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health and one death

VICTORIA — The provincial government is reporting 677 new cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia, including 99 in the Northern Health region.

There are currently 6,165 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. Of the active cases, 288 people are in hospital and 140 are in intensive care.

The new/active cases include:

* 237 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 1,948

* 102 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 1,030

* 153 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 1,583

* 99 new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 964

* 86 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 627

* no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: 13

There’s been one more death in B.C., that person resided in northern B.C. It brings the death toll to 1,866.

As for vaccinations, 86% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 and 78.5% have received their second dose.
