PRINCE GEORGE– The federal election is down to the wire and the final week of campaigning for parties has kicked off.

The race is extremely tight right now with the Conservatives and Liberals neck and neck in the polls. CNC political science instructor Chris Beach expects BC to play a pivotal role in the final result saying that even though most B.C. residents think the election is usually over by the time voting day comes that their vote could be crucial in determining a winner.

Locally, he isn’t expecting the races in the two Prince George ridings to be very close, however, he says there’s still a lot riding on who we elect locally.

It would be an advantage for the Prince George ridings if the conservatives were elected federally. It would potentially give them 2 members and one could end up potentially in the cabinet and that will give Prince George much more of a seat at the table. -Chris Beach CNC political science instructor

Well over 5 million citizens voted at the advance polls in this general election. Which was an 18.46% increase from the 4,879,312 electors who voted in advance in the 2019 general election.
