This electoral district was originally created back in 1966 from parts of the Cariboo and Kamloops ridings.
This riding has elected conservative candidates since consistently since 1972 and has been held by Conservative Bob Zimmer since 2011.
Based on 2016 numbers, the riding has a population of 110,995. In the 2019 Federal Election, Zimmer was re-elected with 38,473 of the votes (70 percent of eligible votes).
