Remembrance Day ceremony won’t be held in Quesnel due to COVID-19 concerns

QUESNEL — Quesnel’s Remembrance Day ceremony will not be held at the cenotaph for 2021.

A news release from the Royal Canadian Legion No. 94 says the in-person ceremony won’t be held to keep their veterans safe and to comply with COVID-19 restrictions for Northern Health. Wreaths will be laid by Legion members on the morning of Nov. 11, 2021.

The Legion says the most sacrosanct and central element to the Remembrance Day ceremony is the two minutes of silence where Canadians pause to honour, thank, and remember their fallen.

If able, the Legions asks residents to join others around the country at 11 a.m. local time as they observe two minutes of silence.
