New type of flu shot in high demand with COVID-19 pandemic in 4th wave

PRINCE GEORGE–With Flu season starting up many people are starting to plan out where to get their Shots with multiple pharmacies already fully booked.

So why the rush? For one, this year’s dose is stronger though that doesn’t mean it’s more dangerous. Patrick Dinelle says that even though there is another element to the flu shot this year it’s just more protection and that there is nothing to worry about.

The shots funded right now by the government are called Quadrivalent. It’s designed to protect against four different flu viruses, including two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses.

The CDC recommends September and October are generally good times to be vaccinated against flu. They also say, ideally, everyone should be vaccinated by the end of October with peak flu season starting in December.
