Quesnel RCMP investigating rollover north of the River Bridge
QUESNEL — Quesnel RCMP are investigating to determine if speed and alcohol were factors in a single vehicle crash earlier this week.
Traffic on Highway 97 was disrupted for an hour Wednesday (Oct. 27) before noon after a truck collided with a power pole and then rolled over within Quesnel city limits just north of the Quesnel River Bridge.
RCMP say a witness reported that a northbound Dodge truck was travelling at a high rate of speed down Dragon Lake Hill. After the truck crossed the bridge, the driver lost control, sheared off a tree and power pole, and then rolled over.
Police say the driver, who was the sole occupant, was extricated from the vehicle and then transported to G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. BC Hydro attended the scene to clear the road of the downed power lines.
