Update: RCMP say lockdown in Mackenzie is over
MACKENZIE — Update: RCMP say the suspect has been located and note he was carrying a pellet gun, not a firearm.
Police say no offense was committed and the lockdowns at the mall and rec centre have been lifted along with the hold and secure at two local schools.
Earlier: North District RCMP say that the malll and rec centre in Mackenzie are in lockdown after a person was seen carrying a firearm and walking towards a residential area just after 8 a.m. this morning.
The two schools in town – Morfee Elementary and Mackenzie Secondary School – have been placed in hold and secure mode due to the threat. That means basic activities within school happen as per usual though no one is allowed in or out of either school.
