Cousins Before COVID has launched
PRINCE GEORGE – Carrier Sekani Family Services has launched the “Cousins before COVID,” a vaccine hesitancy campaign. The campaign will run until December 17, and will focus on the Carrier and Sekani cultural values of placing the needs of the larger group over the needs of the individual and will include videos, posters, and a social media campaign where those who are vaccinated can win prizes as an incentive to share why #CousinsbeforeCOVID is important to them.
“It’s younger people,” says Marlaena Mann, Executive Director, Communications and Data Governance for CSFA. “We have done a little bit of research on why that is and lots of people have said ‘Well I just don’t really think it’s a priority.’ Or they don’t understand how important it is.”
CSFS says the Delta variant is particularly virulent and young are contracting it at an increasing pace. The campaign includes a website with information, as well as a contest.
But CSFS is going the extra mile to ensure everyone can get their vaccine.
