Pedestrian-vehicle incident on Hwy 97 North

PRINCE GEORGE—Update: A male pedestrian was killed this morning after being struck by a vehicle near Hwy 97 North at Northwood Pulpmill road.

It happened just after 7 a.m. and forced the closure of the highway for several hours as investigators and first responders attended the scene. The deceased’s’ name will not be released.

If you have any information you’re asked to call police. This is the second pedestrian killed in Prince George this week. The first died after being hit by a vehicle on First Avenue and Brunswick Street early Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier: RCMP say the highway has reopened.

Earlier: Prince George RCMP say that a driver struck a pedestrian this morning over in the Hart.

Police say it happened just after 7 a.m. on Northwood Pulpmill Road. Emergency crews are on scene and traffic is closed temporarily in both directions.

The pedestrian has been taken to the hospital with unknown injuries and the driver is cooperating with police.
