Highway 16 closed east of Vanderhoof due to vehicle incident: DriveBC

UPDATE (5:30 p.m.): Higway 97 fully re-opened.

UPDATE (1:45 p.m.): Vanderhoof RCMP say they were called to a serious collision shortly before 10 a.m.

Highway 16 remains closed until further notice. RCMP advise drives to not be on the roads unless necessary, as conditions are treacherous.

Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact Vanderhoof RCMP at 250-567-2222.

EARLIER: VANDERHOOF — DriveBC reports of a vehicle incident approximately 10 kilometres east of Vanderhoof.

Due to the incident at Saranovich Road, Highway 16 is reportedly closed, and an assessment is in progress.

Drivers are expected to experience delays in the area. A detour is in effect via Derksen Road and McDonald Road.

As of Sunday morning (Nov. 7), DriveBC says Highway 16 has limited visibility for nearly 45 kilometres between Vanderhoof and one kilometre west of Bednesti Norman due to fog. Drivers are told to expect slippery conditions.

Another update is schedule for 1:45 p.m.
