Bras for a good cause

PRINCE GEORGE – A local company called Modern Match Lingerie is asking the women of Prince George to rally.

Modern Match Lingerie has created a new initiative and is asking the Prince George area, to check their dresser drawers for gently used braziers for women who need them most.

Modern Match Lingerie launched the Worthy Warriors campaign at the height of the pandemic. Domestic violence was at an all-time high and mental health was low. Last June, the CEO of Modern Match Lingerie, Shauna Allan, and her social media specialist Veronica Beltran joined forces with the Phoenix Transition House to better understand how they could help women in need.

“It really brought this level of awareness, this need that when women are fleeing a life of abuse, primarily just with the clothes on their backs.” explained Shauna Allen, Founder of Modern Match Lingerie. “And, any financial income that they do have is going to food or shelter. So, this was just a way that we could support the initiative, support these women at a time they need us most.”

An expense that we often don’t think of when donating to at-risk people is their underthings. It’s more of a priority to donate non-perishable, gloves, and mittens. But for a lot of women, bras are a necessity and if they can’t financially afford them, they will just suffer without them.

“We thought we are supporting local women, it’s the initiative of “we’re stronger together,” so we thought we would link arms because we know women have a drawer full of bras that they’re not wearing.”

If you want to join the movement, drop off your donations at their office located at 3981 18th Ave, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

They are even offering an incentive for those ladies who decide to donate.
