QUESNEL- Highway 97 is now closed in both directions after a fatal two vehicle collision occurred south of Olson Road near Hixon.
When police responded to the incident shortly after noon, they determined that a flatdeck semi truck and a pickup truck collided. The driver of the pickup truck was found dead on scene, and the driver of the semi-truck sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision is unknown at this time, and BC Highway Patrol has assumed conduct of the investigation. Police say nothing has been ruled out as roads and weather conditions are reportedly challenging in the area.
The road is closed in both directions as police investigate the incident and it is not known if there is an available detour. Motorists can expect delays and can monitor DriveBC.ca for updates.
