PRINCE GEORGE – Miracle on Third is just around the corner, this year the annual fundraiser will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC (BBBS).

The past year or so over the pandemic has been challenging for the non-profit organization, although there have been plenty of activities going on.

“We have been putting on a lot of skill-based programs in groups,” said Melissa Hayne, Mentoring Coordinator at BBBS Northern BC. “We did paddle royale over the summer so the kids were learning how to canoe and kayak, we did a learn how to golf program where the kids got to go golfing, I had my arts and crafts group that was running where girls just got to hang out and participate in different arts and crafts.”

One example is the mid-week art nights that have been put on Wednesday nights at BBBS headquarters at Kinsmen place.

Christina Watts from Watts Art Academy who runs the art classes said watching kids in the Wednesday art classes make friends and grow up is extremely rewarding.

Since 1979, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been making a positive difference in the lives of our local youth by developing and implementing a wide range of mentoring programs; one-to-one and group programs, for both in school and outside of school.

If you’d like to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC, you can do so on Miracle Day on Wednesday December 1st.
