Pediatric COVID-19 vaccine rollout coming to Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE- Starting today (Monday), BC residents who have registered their child aged 5-11 for a pediatric COVID-19 vaccination appointment will begin receiving invitations to do so. While the rollout program will differ from community-to-community, some northern communities will be hosting child-specific vaccination clinics.
A child vaccination clinic will be held at the House of Ancestors on December 6,7,13 and 14 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Another clinic will also take place at the Northern Interior Health Unit on December 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm.
In order for a child to get vaccinated at one of these clinics, a parent or guardian must book an appointment after registering the child on the BC Get Vaccinated system. Provincial Health Officer, Dr.Bonnie Henry recently explained that these child-specific vaccine clinics will offer supports for families with small children.
Northern Health Spokesperson, Eryn Collins says drop-in clinics may eventually be available for pediatric COVID-19 vaccine appointments in the north, depending on what works for each community. For a list of vaccination clinics in Northern Health, click here.
