PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Spruce Kings have announced that goaltender Aaron Trotter (01) has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Hockey at the University of St. Thomas for the 2022-2023 season.

“I am just incredibly thankful to have received this offer and it has been something that I have always dreamed about,” admitted Trotter. “I called my parents, and it was a very emotional phone call and they have always supported me and were incredibly happy for me to be given this opportunity.”

Trotter, a 20-year-old out of Victoria, BC is in his second season with the Spruce Kings. So far in the 2021-22 season, Trotter sports a 7-4 record with 2.35 goals-against average, and a .911 save percentage. In the 2021 Chilliwack Pod, Trotter finished with an outstanding 7-3-1 record, including a 1.63 Goals Against Average, and a .934 save percentage. Those numbers in the pod, triumphed Trotter to being named the Chilliwack Pod Top Goaltender. Trotter was also named the Spruce Kings Rookie of The Year in the 2020-21 campaign.

“We are very proud of Aaron and he and his family are very deserving of this achievement,” said Head Coach Alex Evin in a release issued by the team. “Since joining our program last fall as a 19-year-old rookie, we have witnessed Aaron consistently improve each and every day both on and off the ice. He is one of the hardest workers I have ever coached and is a great role model for all athletes that it is never too late to achieve great things in sport.”
