Cougars take down shot-heavy Blazers on Teddy & Toque Night
PRINCE GEORGE – Taylor Gauthier had to be at his best between the pipes Saturday night at the CN Centre, turning away 48 of 50 shots from the Kamloops Blazers as the Prince George Cougars pulled off a 3-2 victory over the BC Division leaders.
It marked back-to-back nights the Cougars pulled off their first wins against BC Divison opponents this season.
The 20-year-old netminder came in relief of Tyler Brennan Friday night against the Kelowna Rockets after suffering an injury in PG’s 3-2 win over the Kelowna Rockets that night. Prince George recalled Ty Young as a backup to Gauthier from the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks.
Dylan Ernst workload with the Blazers will be heightened over the next month with Dylan Garand away with Hockey Canada for the 2022 World Juniors in Edmonton.
