Quesnel Kangaroos host Dawson Creek Canucks for two-game exhibition series

QUESNEL – The West Fraser Centre was the site for some championship calibre hockey this week as the Senior Men’s AA Quesnel Kangaroos played host to the defending Dawson Creek Canucks.

Dawson Creek plays in the North Peace Hockey League, however, the league opted to not play this season. As a result, the Canucks have been playing exhibition games against teams across the province in order to qualify for the Coy Cup. The Canucks are the reigning provincial Senior AA champions, winning the Coy Cup in 2019, the last year the tournament was played.

Meanwhile, the Quesnel Kangaroos compete in the Central Interior Hockey League. They currently hold a 3-3 record and sit fourth in the league’s standings.

Playing Wednesday and Thursday against the Canucks, Dawson Creek handed Quesnel a pair of losses after defeating them 5-3 and 6-3.

The Kangaroos will continue their CIHL regular season on Saturday when they host the Williams Lake Stampeders for their final game of 2020 at 7:30 p.m.
