Johnston Bridge Loop closes due to flooding and ice buildup along Quesnel River

QUESNEL, B.C. — The City of Quesnel announced the Johnston Bridge Loop will be closed until further notice due to flooding and ice buildup along the Quesnel River.
On Tuesday (Jan. 4), the city stated the Johnston Bridge will remain open to single lane southbound traffic only. The Riverfront Trail is also closed from Ceal Tingley Park to the Quesnel River Bridge.
Southbound traffic can detour through the railway crossing while northbound traffic must detour through Johnston Subdivision and North Star Road. Travelers crossing south, must approach the railway crossing from Legion Drive.
The city said updates will be provided as changes occur.
