Spruce Kings take three out of four points in weekend road trip in Cranbrook

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings are heading back north having taken three of a possible four points from a weekend in the Kootenays.

After getting shutout 1-0 in overtime Friday (Jan. 7), the Spruce Kings returned the favour by shutting out the Cranbrook Bucks 5-0 on Saturday (Jan. 8). Prince George didn’t score in over 61 minutes of play in their overtime loss, but they didn’t look back after Ty Gagno scored a power play goal less than 10 minutes into their win.

With the three points, the Spruce Kings jumped the Bucks for fourth in the top-heavy British Columbia Hockey League Interior Division based on point percentage. Prince George a 15-9-2-1 record in 27 games, good for 33 points.

The Spruce Kings are scheduled to host the West Kelowna Warriors on Wednesday (Jan. 12) to kick off a three-game homestand at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
