Council moves on cannabis application

PRINCE GEORGE – Copilot Cannabis has cleared the first two hurdles for the newest proposed cannabis retailer at the airport.

If successful, it would be the first cannabis retailer in an airport anywhere in the world.

The RCMP identified a couple of concerns in its report to Council:

“Negative impacts to Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) staff at the security screening to ensure property packing, weights for domestic flights;” and

“Potential issues for connecting international flights at land borders where cannabis is not legal and possible criminal charges for exporting cannabis.”

However, Council passed the first two readings unanimously with very little discussion.

The application will have to undergo a public hearing at a future Council meeting.
