Fort St James man charged following robbery on Victoria Street
PRINCE GEORGE- Local police managed to apprehend a robbery suspect connected to a Saturday morning robbery less than two hours after the incident.
Shortly after 10:00 am, officers received a report of a robbery on the 400 block of Victoria Street. The victim reported a man robbed him of $40 while he was withdrawing some money at an ATM. The suspect, who has been identified as 36-year-old Michael Aslin of Fort St James, fled on foot after the robbery.
Investigators immediately obtained video surveillance of the robbery suspect, with that, identified and arrested the suspect within two hours of the initial report. One charge of robbery has been approved against Aslin, who is known to police. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
“Quick and detailed police work, including the use of a Police Service Dog and viewing video surveillance, led to the suspect’s arrest. This is an example of the dedication police have to maintaining the safety of Prince George residents,” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.
