Drugs and weapons seizure in Mackenzie

MACKENZIE — Three people were arrested in Mackenzie following a drugs and weapons seizure over the weekend.

North District RCMP say that on Saturday, three to four people allegedly took possession of a house on Laurier Drive, forcing the homeowner to leave.

RCMP set up surveillance on the home and conducted traffic stops on two vehicles leaving. Three people were arrested and three shotguns, two of which were loaded, were seized.

Further investigation yielded suspected drugs and drug trafficking equipment. Police say none of the suspects were from Mackenzie, and were released pending possible future charges.

No names have been released.
