FORT ST. JAMES, B.C. — RCMP are investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead in Fort St. James Friday (Feb. 26) night.

Just after 11:30 p.m., Fort St. James RCMP say officers were called to a trailer park in the 800-block of Spruce Road for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man dead from an apparent gun shot wound.

A 29-year-old Fort St. James man was arrested. The B.C. RCMP North District Major Crime Unit (NC MCU) has taken over the investigation and will remain in the area gathering evidence for the upcoming days.

“Our investigation leads us to believe this was a targeted incident between two men, who were known to each other and there is no on-going risk to the public,” Lorne Wood, ND MCU inspector says.
