PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars mercilessly defeated the Victoria Royals Saturday (March 12) at the CN Centre in Prince George.

Victoria’s Riley Gannon opened the scoring with an unassisted goal halfway through the first.

Just seconds later, Koehn Ziemmer scored his first of four goals, assisted by Keaton Dowhaniuk and Craig Armstrong.

Then about 20 seconds later, Ziemmer scored a second. He polished off his first career hat trick at 13 minutes, bringing the score to 3-1.

The second period was quiet until the Cougars’ Jonny Hooker scored a shorthanded goal with help from Armstrong.

Then Ziemmer decided he wanted one more with two minutes left in the second.

The Cougars didn’t slow down in the third period. Armstrong got a goal a minute in, followed by Ethan Samson on the power play.

Ryker Singer brought the score to 8-1 on a breakaway. Hudson Thornton snuck in one last goal with a minute left, bringing the final score to 9-1 for the Cougars.

The Cougars are now at 20-32-2-1 and are good for 43 points in 55 games. Next, they play Victoria again on the road on Friday (March 18).
