PRINCE GEORGE – Every Year the UNBC Timberwolves Student-Athlete Society hosts their annual Fill the Bus campaign. This year the group was up at Art Knapp’s Sunday collecting bottles for 17-year-old Jocelyn Kerr who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

It was one of the biggest bottle drives Prince George has seen so far and massive support was shown. After the first 30 minutes of the drive, the truck which was substituted as “the Bus” was halfway full with multiple people from around the city driving in with their bottles to donate. And although Jocelyn was in Vancouver for treatment, the support she has received hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Multiple updates were sent her way with pictures of the truck slowly filling up with bottles and her reaction at the end was both blown away and amazed that a city showed so much support. Funds raised will go toward travel expenses and groceries, as well as medication that isn’t covered and helping the Kerr family cover expenses staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

When the Timberwolves reached out to Art Knapp they were more than happy to help host the event in their parking lot, especially since the place has had a special relationship with Jocelyn in the past. She was first hired there when she was 14 and owner Jos Van Hage had nothing but praise for her over the 3 years she worked there.

Once 3 o’clock hit there were enough to fill 2 trailers and more storage had to be found to fit the hundreds of bags of bottles. Many people also donated cash as well to help out the Kerr family and once again the City of Prince George has shown what an amazing community it is.
