2 in custody following two separate robberies in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Local Mounties say two men are in police custody following two separate robberies last week in Prince George.

The first occurred just before noon last Thursday (March 17) at a business on the 1800 block of 20th Avenue.

“The lone male suspect was reported to have brandished a knife at staff of the business and then fled on foot with a small amount of ice cream,” says Cpl. Sonja Blom.

“Frontline officers immediately attended the area to search for the suspect. He was located walking down a nearby alley and arrested without incident.”

In relation to this incident, the BC Prosecution Service approved the following charges against 24-year-old Shane Coulas of Prince George.

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

Coulas was remanded in custody and his next scheduled court appearance is April 4, 2022.

Three days later, RCMP receive a report of a robbery at a hotel in downtown Prince George.

The male suspect was reported to have demanded money from staff and threatened to harm them, before fleeing on foot. The suspect was arrested a short time later near the corner of 3rd Avenue and George Street.

In relation to this incident, the BC Prosecution Service has approved the following Criminal Code charges against 28 year old Jonathan Scott Jacobs of Surrey:

  • Robbery
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Jacobs was remanded in custody and his next scheduled court appearance is April 5, 2022.
