Local artist to open gallery at Studio 2880
PRINCE GEORGE—Studio 2880 is opening a new art exhibit that will feature local artist Melissa Bain.
PERSONA is described as a display of acrylic impressionism imitating human behavior. The gallery features distorted expressions, vibrant colours, bold outlines and forms revealing the moods and intriguing state of being in each work. Bain is inspired by the works of Chagall, Picasso, and German Expressionist painter Max Beckmann.
“A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.” (Author, James Allen). It’s this ideal that intrigues my imagination and inspires my creativity. My paintings portray literal “thinking” characters and subjects caught within their own stories; snapshots of their personalities with the traits and thoughts that embody them; and in some cases merged with my own. Persona, by one definition, means the aspect of someone’s character that is presented to or perceived by others. I encourage you (the viewer) to observe and interpret each of the works presented to form your own perception of its’ characters,” said Melissa Bain.
Bain is a professional artist born in Whitehorse and now residing in Prince George. She has had her work exhibited in multiple galleries, private shows and retail across the globe.
