PRINCE GEORGE – An Air Canada Jazz flight made a successful emergency landing at the Prince George Airport Friday (May 6) evening.

In a news release, the Prince George Airport Authority (YXS) says the emergency was declared in the air.

Lauren Dunn with Jazz Aviation says “shortly after take-off from Prince George (YXS) to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), the aircraft operating flight AC 8350 developed a hydraulic pressure issue.”

“As per our standard operating procedures, the crew requested a priority landing as a precautionary measure. The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority, and the aircraft landed in Prince George safely and uneventfully. Our maintenance personnel will conduct a thorough inspection of the aircraft to determine the cause and proceed with the necessary repairs.”

There were 36 passengers and four crew on board and no adverse effects or injuries were reported for passengers or crew. Passengers will be travelling on alternative flights Saturday (May 7).

The Dash 8 – 400 circled the airport before landing. YXS officials say the emergency was called in at approximately 8:30 p.m.

First responders were called to the airport and were staged in the area, in case they were required.
