PRINCE GEORGE – The B.C. Schizophrenia Society PG Branch hosted an open house on May 24th for Psychosis and Schizophrenia Awareness Day.

” Prince George branch of B.C. Schizophrenia Society offers support, education, and advocacy for people in our community who are living in our community with Schizophrenia and their families” explains Nansi Long who is the Executive Director of the PG Branch Of The BC Schizophrenia Society ” We also offer that support to people who are living with other mental health and illness issues.”

The PG Branch is located in the Activity Centre for Empowerment or A.C.E. Here they provide a safe space for community members. Three percent of the population will experience psychosis. One in 100 people will be diagnosed with schizophrenia. While attitudes toward mental health have changed, the myths, misunderstandings, and misconceptions surrounding early psychosis and schizophrenia remain stubbornly high.
