PRINCE GEORGE — RCMP are once again thanking members of the public in the wake of last night’s incident at 5th Avenue and Freeman Street.

At 6 p.m. police received multiple calls from witnesses stating they saw a man walking down the street with what appeared to be a rifle. RCMP have since confirmed that it was not a gun but instead an air soft rifle.

“We want to thank those people who called in with updates on the man’s location and to those in the area who gave our police officers directions on where he was last seen. This helped our investigators locate the suspect quickly. This type of call will always be met with an immediate and large police presence,” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

She says the man has been spoken with about his actions and is not known to them for any similar incidents. He will not be charged though the rifle was taken away by police.
