PRINCE GEORGE —Update: According to organizers, the preliminary fundraising amount for the 7th annual Climb for Cancer has been calculated and over $60,000.

This surpasses the fundraising goal set for this year’s event, along with the $50,000 raised in 2021 and brings the total raised over seven years to over $300,000.

The top fundraising team was Positive Altitude, who raised over $7,600 for the Kordyban Lodge, followed by the Honeyberries at around $5,600 and Handsome Cabin Boy Tattoo at almost $3,000. Donations are still rolling in, with the final total expected in the coming weeks.

Earlier: The Canadian Cancer Society’s Climb for Cancer event is being held in Prince George Sunday (May 29) at the Kordyban Lodge.

Individuals and teams will climb the iconic cutbanks to show their support for the Kordyban Lodge and the guests staying in it.

This year’s fundraising goal for the event is $60,000 as the Canadian Cancer Society has already raised more than $30,000.

Once signed in, teams and individuals will walk 600 metres to the cutbanks for their opportunity to climb for a good cause.

“After your climb, join us at the Northern lights Winery orchard to experience music, food, and fun. No tickets are required, and admission will be by donation,” the Climb for Cancer release reads.

People can listen to local artists at the winery, and parking at PWB has been arranged with a shuttle bus traveling back and forth every 20 minutes.
