Experts warn cities about potential quick snow thaw which could cause flood trouble
PRINCE GEORGE– As the weather gets warmer the water levels of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers continue to rise. In past years there has been some cause for concern but is this year any different?
Dr. Joseph Shea is an Associate Professor of Environmental Geomatics at UNBC and he believes the biggest reason for the water rising is because of the unusual colder spring we’ve had this year.
However, the city of Prince George is preparing for floods as they would every other year as this has become a normal practice for them. This year though many experts are warning cities about the potential of a quick thaw which could cause some trouble if not properly prepared.
