PRINCE GEORGE – After being closed for over 1-thousand days, the Fire Pit-Cultural Drop-In Centre opened its doors once again to the community.

” We’re welcoming everybody back in, to just come in and we want to breathe life back into this building that’s been closed for two years” Explained Angela Carter, Executive Director for Positive Living North ” We are really excited to just open the doors and have people here.”

Before the doors closed back in March of 2020, The Fire Pit catered to everyone in the community no matter the need. Positive Living North developed an innovative program called the ‘Fire Pit’ in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic Northern BC communities are experiencing. The Fire Pit quickly became a safe space for anyone who needed it. Kyle Sam, who is part of the PLN Board of Directors says, this space is important to the community.

“There is a bunch of resources, there is housing and we do community engagement and we work with a lot of the homeless people, people that are in poverty that are struggling to have meals,” said Sam

The centre is open to all members of the community wishing to drop in for a visit or wishing to volunteer their time, skills, and knowledge in the delivery of day-to-day operations and programming. For more information on The Fire Pit click the link here.
