PRINCE GEORGE- It was Rain or Shine for the first event of the annual fathers day weekend show and shine car show.

Friday, the Cruisin’ Classics Car Club paraded around Prince George, showing off their hot rods to residents of care homes who won’t be able to make it out over the weekend.

“There are many, many seniors in Prince George that can easily be able to come out to the park. Mobility and transportation can be a little bit complicated,” says the President of the Cruisin’ Classics Car Club, Chris Knight. ” What we try and do is two days before our show is we like to bring a bit of the show to them.”

The Senior’s tour has become a priority for the club, saying the event is to celebrate and honour family, friends and the people of Prince George.

“We use this as an opportunity to recognize the knowledge and the experience that some of the seniors have. There are many smart car people and Prince George, who appreciate the quality of the automobiles we bring to them,” says Knight.

The tour visited nine care homes around Prince George Friday, making 30-minute stops along the way.

“It’s such a wonderful event to have all these people take their time out of their days and parade their cars down here to the care homes,” says Maegan chamberlain, a recreation therapist at Parkside care. “Our residents obviously love it. It brings back memories and helps them reminisce about some old times.”

Anyone else, you can check out the show and shine at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park Sunday, June 19th.
