PRINCE GEORGE– Gardening is a popular pastime for many of us. As a result, it’s common to see community gardens around the city of Prince George. However, none are as unique as the one starting up in Moccasin Flats.

Niki Hanson is one of the many people who have helped put this garden into motion. She and various people with the love of gardening come down every Tuesday and add more and more to the garden located in the homeless camp.

April Ottesen is another gardener who helps tend to the garden, all with the goal of trying to provide something to the residents of Moccasin Flats, who she believes have been forgotten about by the community.

Even though the garden has just recently started, it has been maintained and even had some fruit sprouting. A couple of residents living in Moccasin Flats told CKPG they were excited to have a garden and some bought seeds to help make it grow.

The garden is open to anyone to help plant and the group meets up every Tuesday night around 7 o’clock to help slowly build up the Moccasin Flats Community Garden.
