PRINCE GEORGE—Theatre NorthWest is running summer sewing camps and they have changed up how they will work.

Camps will now focus on teaching students how to upcycle clothing, like turning a men’s dress shirt into a summer dress, updating t-shirts and jeans, and making a memory pillow from old clothing.

“We wanted to do something fun, and a bit trendy,” says Theatre NorthWest’s Wardrobe Mistress Samantha Perrin. “Learning to make over or update old clothing is a great way to keep your wardrobe fresh and your creativity flowing!”

Theatre NorthWest started sewing camps several years ago, they are designed to inspire young people to think about costume designing as a career path, as well as teach them some valuable skills, like sewing on a button or even a zipper.
