PRINCE GEORGE- With July officially here, summer is underway, and the Prince George Public Library kicked off its summer programming with a Juno-nominated children’s performer.

The Library was rocking Saturday morning when Mary Lambert was in town performing her Sing Out Summer fun-themed concert.

“The level and calibre of her musical performances. She’s a Juno-nominated performer and children’s performer. She’s incredible,” said Jen Rubadeau of the Prince George Public Library.

Mary Lambert, known for putting on colourful, interactive and exciting shows for children of all ages, is touring 20 different libraries throughout B.C. to start the summer.

“I really love working with children. Children love the colour. I can go into an elementary school and dress like this, kids up to grade six, seven, eight. Look at my pants. And say, Oh, I really like those,” says Lambert. “You have to present something that will be eye-catching to kids right off the bat.”

With Kids around Prince George finished school for the year, the library is taking the opportunity to put on different events all summer long.

“A lot of organizations might gear down a little bit in the summer, but we actually take this opportunity to ramp up. So we have a ton of programming all summer long for all the age groups,” said Rubadeau.

The programming includes story time in the Knowledge Garden, Lego free play, Nerf nights and much more.
