VANDERHOOF — Residents of Vanderhoof now have a space to immerse themselves in cultural experiences thanks to the opening of the Vanderhoof Cultural Centre.

A grand opening was held on Thursday (June 30), kicked off by speeches and a cultural performance from Saik’uz First Nation.

“The Centre will be a landmark that will showcase the culture of both Saik’uz and the region around the Nechako Valley,” said District of Vanderhoof Mayor Gerry Thiessen.

The hope is that the new circular building, shaped like a pit house, can provide a space for learning about the history of local Indigenous people.
