RCMP warn of “to good to be true” items online

Jul 20, 2022 | 4:14 PM

PRINCE GEORGE—RCMP are warning the public that if an online sale looks too good to be true, it probably is.

On Sunday, July 17, just after 10:00 a.m., officers attended the scene of an abandoned tractor trailer that was determined to belong to a local department store.

“Some of the stolen items include CCM and Raleigh bikes, as well as BBQs”, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. “We are cautioning those using online marketplaces this summer to be wary of buying these types of items if the deal seems ‘too good to be true’. It’s possible these are some of the stolen items from this investigation. Anyone found to be in possession of the stolen items risks having the item recovered by police and could possibly face charges of possession of stolen property.”

If you see any items listed online that you think may be related to the investigation you are asked to screenshot it and pass the information along to RCMP.
