Spruce City Men’s Fastball up in the air following stadium fire

PRINCE GEORGE – What they don’t want to see is the remainder of their season be lost.

Robbie Antoine, vice president of the Spruce City Men’s Fastball League, says the league is looking at their next steps but did admit the games scheduled for this week will be cancelled.

It’s a tough blow to the league, especially coming just a few days after the Canadian Native Fastball Championships wrapped up. Spruce City Stadium served as the main venue for the event.

The grandstands at Spruce City Stadium were untouched. However, with $100,000 in estimated damages, it’s impossible to put on any events at the diamond. The stadium’s power supply for the lighting and water all runs through the structure that housed both the concessions and media box.

Men’s fastball had a few more weeks remaining in their season prior to the fire, but the league will now have to deal with insurance – as well as the city – before another pitch gets thrown at Spruce City Stadium.
