Unemployment rate in Prince George up slightly to 5.8%

PRINCE GEORGE — The Province added 14,900 full time jobs last month while unemployment remained low at 4.7 per cent.

Federally 31,000 jobs were lost in july while unemployment remained steady at 4.9 per cent.

In Prince George, the unemployment rate rose to 5.8 per cent from 5.1per cent.

The Bank of Canada is expected to announce another interest rate hike early next month because of the strong economic performance.
