Abundant ants attracted to illegally dumped compostables: City

PRINCE GEORGE — The City of Prince George says ants are marching two by two to piles of compost that have been dumped where they don’t belong.
In a Facebook post Saturday (August 6), the City says calls to report illegal dumping have been reduced to one to three per week, but a lot of the calls being received are for materials like yard waste and grass clippings being dumped in public spaces.
“This is not great (and illegal) because it attracts a LOT of ants,” reads the post from the City.
Compostables can be disposed of for free at the landfill or transfer stations.
