PRINCE GEORGE – The NDP government is accusing a northern Liberal MLA of being a climate change denier. However, Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad says that isn’t true and that he’s only trying to protect farmers and the world’s food supply.

It all started with Facebook posts, which the NDP claims prove that John Rustad doesn’t believe climate change is real.

“He’s using an anti-science perspective. This is Kevin Falcon’s forestry critic no less. And I think there’s a responsibility here for Mr. Falcon and the B.C. Liberals to correct this misinformation and ask that John Rustad take these down as a public figure. He’s putting out misinformation on climate change.”

Rustad says they have it all wrong. He’s not a climate change denier. He believes what he calls climate policymakers are taking things too far, hurting farmers and those who are hungry.

And I think that is just, you know, it is wrong on so many levels. And whether it’s, you know, seems to be the environmental elites that are in control in terms of Victoria and in Ottawa and other places in the world that are driving this based on an ideology. And to me, that’s the line that this has crossed.”
