Pick your fruit

Pick your fruit before the bears do

PRINCE GEORGE – Northern Bear Awareness Society would like to remind residents its crucial to manage their fruit-bearing plants in late summer and early autumn.

During this time, bears actively search for high-calorie, easy foods like apples.

Bears can become dangerous when they become habituated to unnatural food sources.

Having a fruit tree can be a terrific hobby and a source of local food security, but it is essential to pick the fruits when it is ready. You can connect with the Fruit Exchange program if you cannot pick or use your fruit.

“ The Northern Bear Awareness Society hosts a fruit exchange program where you can post on their Facebook page. And it allows other people of Prince George to come harvest your fruit or accept pre-packed boxes.”
