Residents in the following areas are under evacuation alert:

• Twelve Mile Rd., Dunley Rd., Eagle Heights Dr., & Aspen Ridge Dr.
• Beryl Prairie Rd. & Haagsman St.
• Farrell Creek Rd., Simonsen Ave., & Lahagarte Rd.
• East of Johnson Creek FSR at 40km until Highway 29 and North until Hudson’s Hope from the Johnson Creek FSR along Highway 29.

The PRRD says those evacuating should “follow the Johnson Creek Forest Service Road (FSR) East to Highway 29 and continue to a safe location.”

The evacuation orders and alerts are due to the Battleship Mountain wildfire, which is burning out of control at more than 10,000 hectares about 50 kilometres west of Hudson’s Hope.

Saturday the fire behaved aggressively at a rank 4 level thanks to wind, as well as hot and dry conditions. Winds are expected to reach up to 70 km/hr on Sunday which could increase fire spread to 30 metres per minute, according to the Peace River Regional District.
