Battleship Mountain wildfire displaying extremely vigorous behaviour

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — A wildfire burning in northern B.C. is displaying “extremely vigorous fire behaviour, according to an update from the BC Wildfire Service Saturday (Sept. 10).

The fire is burning out of control about 50 kilometres west of Hudson’s Hope. The estimated size is 17,410 hectares.

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) and District of Hudson’s Hope have issued evacuation orders for some parts of the affected regions. Those orders can be viewed on the PRRD and Hudson’s Hope websites.

Environment Canada has issued a smoky skies bulletin for the Peace River area including Fort St. John. The agency said those with breathing difficulties should stay indoors if possible.
