‘We can do better’ says Skakun in re-election bid

PRINCE GEORGE — Brian Skakun says transparency is one of his top priorities as he runs for re-election to city council.

He says he voices his concerns fervently until they are addressed and says he makes himself available to locals through social media and other measures.

He says personal accountability is another priority, saying we need to raise the bar on disclosing personal potential conflicts to ensure we are above the legal minimum requirements.

Skakun adds we need to focus on more than providing core services like clean drinking water, sewage disposal, and paved roads.

“Together, we need to create a healthy, safe, and vibrant city, not only for residents who call Prince George home, but visitors, businesses, and those looking to join our community.”

He adds the city alone cannot reduce crime, poverty, or addictions. Skakun says they need help from senior levels of government to make it happen.

First elected in 2002, Skakun has been a resident of Prince George for 54 years and says he understands what the issues are that affect our day-to-day lives.
