Steidle takes a run at Council
PRINCE GEORGE – A local entrepreneur is hoping to pick up on of the eight seats around the Council Chambers. James Steidle is best known for his position on Stop the Spray, an advocacy group for the elimination of glyphosate use, and, more recently, his activities to save Ginter’s Field. He says he would continue to advocate for more consideration of City parks and greenspaces. And he says he wants to see more profits from forestry flowing into City coffers.
“One of the ideas, I’d like us to get a community forest for Prince George,” says Steidle. “We’re one of the few communities, certainly one of the only communities of this size not to have its own community forest. I think we need to allow small, independent operators outside the traditional tenure system to get involved in public forest and to be able to bid on timber and access logs. A log market is also something that is necessary for this community.”
But, as with every community, the downtown is part of his platform, as well as urban spread.
