Nearly century-old weather record falls in Prince George Monday

PRINCE GEORGE — A record high of 24.2 degrees in Prince George yesterday (Sept.26).

It eclipsed the previous high of 23.9 degrees way back in 1927. Environment Canada attributes the heat to a ridge of high pressure we’ve been enjoying.

Another record high is unlikely today however with a high of 22 expected. The record for today was 26.7 degrees back in 1967.

Meteorologist Ken Dosanjh says the normal highs for this time of year are usually “in the low teens.”

He adds there will a slight change in the weather stating tomorrow.

“Things will change a bit. That ridge will break down a bit tomorrow and Thursday bringing highs to the high teens with more cloud. It’s due to an unsettled air mass headed in your direction.”

He says that ridge should build a bit by Friday with sunnier skies expected though temperatures will peak in the high teens.
